Laura is seemingly a glutton for punishment. She’s already planning on running the Great North Run next year. She got in touch a few weeks ago wanting a photoshoot with her 5 year old daughter Sienna, having hired a personal trainer in January and losing loads of weight. We had to postpone the shoot by a couple of weeks due to me going over on my knee during an mini olympics at my friend Steve’s stag do, whose wedding I’m shooting in a couple of weeks. Despite this we soldiered on at the beautiful little Plumpton Rocks just off Wetherby Road, my knee suprisingly held up to chasing Sienna around trying to get her to smile. Part of the fun/challenge in shooting children is to get on their level and getting them to trust you so they open up and naturally smile and laugh. Sienna spent the first 15 minutes sticking her tongue out at me, which whilst made for some amusing photos probably wasn’t what Laura was looking for when she hired me! Whilst we did get some nice posed photos, I always think the best photos are always when people become oblivious to the camera. Get people relaxed and used to me and just chat about anything to make them forget the camera and they tend to have a much better time. Once people start to realise that the camera won’t bite, they always let their guard down and that’s when the best photos happen.

Portrait Shoots are available from £100 which includes a roughly 2 hour long shoot (although this can be as long or as short as you like), all your images on a DVD and 2 A4 Prints of your choice.
The more of your photos I see, the more I know we made the right decision choosing you to do our wedding next March. Cracking photos!
Hi Robert,
Thanks for that! Really looking forward to your wedding, hope the planning is going well. I need to arrange your Engagement Session soon but perhaps we should hold off until early next year when we’re not swimming in the streets!
